When it comes to search engine promotion, there are many things to consider such as: Creating the proper meta tags for the search engines robots, Proper submission to the search engines, Analyzing the competition, and finally advertising.

Search engine promotion starts by using the proper meta tags. There are many webmasters out there that will say that the robots and search engines no longer use meta tags but, THEY ARE WRONG! If you study the search results closely, you will see that many of the search results are the <meta name="Description”> tag exactly or a variation. Knowing this you will be able to improve your search results dramatically by understanding how to set up your meta tags.

The most important aspect in promoting with the search engines, is your title tag. You must make this tag close if not exact to the keyword you are trying to achieve. Sometimes it is even best to put the word in twice or in different tenses. Example: if you are promoting “Candle Wax” you may want your title tag to read (Candle Wax – Candles and Waxes for Making Candles) Now what did you do here, you said your key term first, then you said it in different tenses and styles. You even were able to say the main word, “Candles” 3 times without sounding too goofy and you have the plurals of each. This is a really good <title> tag for this term.

For best search engine promotion the next thing to consider is your keywords meta tag. It is true that the keywords may be less important these days but it is still a great idea to put them in. Use the (google keyword tool) to find like keywords for your topic. For Candle Wax it could be: <meta name="Keywords" content=" candle,wax,candles, candle holders, beeswax, candle making, votive candle, wholesale candle, floating candles, scented candle, scented candles, paraffin wax, gel wax.”>. We recommend to use the most searched terms and some of the lower searched terms. But if you want to find the best terms with the best chances of getting to #1, you’ll need to cross-reference the keywords with the (keyword difficulty tool).

Now that your done with you keywords, it is time for your description tag. When it comes to search engine promotion, your description tag is the second most important thing. Often it can be best to copy your title tag and put it in your description but try to add a thing or two about your page. Here is a good example: <meta name="Description" content=" Candle Wax – Candles and Waxes for Making Candles including parrifin wax, gel wax, and beeswax." />

When promoting your website or blog to the search engines, it is imporant to try to make sure you use each keyword at least 3 times on the content page with one being a link if possible. In addition, ad images when you can and what will you name your images? [candlewax1.jpg] would be a good one and when you put your alt tags say what the image is (a picture of candle wax).
